Cause: Humanitarians are people who help people during conflicts (i.e. one-sided regional battles), natural disasters (i.e. flooding), and man-made disasters (i.e. nuclear explosions). The reason we need Humanitarians is because they are concerned about improving and alieviating the suffering of those effected by these events.

Effect: The end result of humanitarian efforts are people being supported and provided with aid during these events as they collaborate and coordinate with the International Community (IC), governments, and other humanitarian organizations. As these events subside, those effected are led into substainability, in a course of actions by the Humanitarians to return or maintain their original way of life.

• Humanitarians are willing to be helpful, compassionate and generous towards people.

• Humanitarians have the sole purpose of providing aid.

• Humanitarians provide opportunities for people in the disaster area to participate in the relief efforts.

• Humanitarians strive to reduce future vulnerabilities to disaster as well as meeting basic needs.

• Humanitarians make equitable decisions to assist those in need. 

• Humanitarians provide aid based on the need, not on their race or nationality.
